peace couture fashion event 2012 and benefit for the spring of tampa bay

I attended this event last year and had great time, met the owners of Spathose and enjoyed the show.

If you are in the Tampa area, and can make it, let me know. I would love to say hello!

Four local fashion designers, two boutiques, 30 models, a team of hair and makeup artists, Mrs. World 2012, and one live band will rock the runway for Peace Couture—an evening of music, art and fashion—on Friday, November 9th in Ybor City.

Serious talent is showing up. Designers Sandra Hagen, SpathoseHouse of Donshey and Wicked Betty will showcase along with La France and The Spring boutiques. Local band Zulu Wave will perform live, adding a dramatic element that sets the Peace Couture runway show apart from others out there.

The polished event will feature a nail-art bar (yes, you read that right and there’s a link to buy tickets below), artist installations, pop-up boutique shopping, Champagne cocktails, and an after party with rock band Guiltmaker.

All this fabulousness combines as a fundraiser for The Spring of Tampa Bay (domestic violence prevention and emergency shelter). One in four women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. The Spring’s mission is “to prevent domestic violence, protect victims and promote change in lives, families and communities.”

To show our support, VERTICAL Tampa Bay magazine is proud to produce the Peace Couture runway show in partnership with Pamela Bloomgren of MOD Productions. To our fellow volunteers, we offer a universe of thanks. The talent gathered is truly BEAUTY FULL to behold.

“As an individual who comes from an art background, it is truly exciting to be working with so many incredibly talented people right here in our own community,” says Kurt Piazza, associate director of development for The Spring of Tampa Bay. “We are enormously grateful to the many people who volunteer their time and expertise to put this event together and make it truly special.”

you don't have to participate | tuesday's tip

The wonderful thing about figuring out what your personal style philosophy (your styleosophy) actually means to you, is finally knowing that you don't have to participate.

You don't have to participate in every trend that comes along.

You don't have to participate in every season changing event.

You don't have to participate when the 'fashion rags' say you should shelve your open-toed booties/platforms/pointed-toe shoes because they are out of style.

You don't have to participate in the conversation surrounding jeggings vs. bootcut jeans and whether they are in this season and what color you should purchase them in.

You simply do not have to participate.

If you choose to participate, make that trend work with your styleosophy.

Oh my, it has been a while!

Over on Fab Over Fifty we get the early jump on Halloween this week, with this "haunt couture" outfit. The lady above looks stunning. Great template for comfort and style.

As we wind down the summer, check out this sunny, chic outfit. To make the tunic and crop look work for fall, substitute heavier fabrics in fall colors.

Did you know the 5 best dressed cities are Beverly Hills, CA; Palm Beach, FL; Honolulu, HI; Washington, DC; and Scottsdale, AZ? I didn't either until I was asked by Soo at Spork Marketing to participate in this story for dresscodefinder.com.

My thoughts on "well-dressed" quoted for the article:

The definition of well-dressed has changed. It's now a cross between simply 'getting dressed' and 'should I do a little more because of the occasion'. It's pathetic.

America's Best Dressed and Most Casual Cities infographic is pretty informative; who knew there was a site out there that helps you decide what to wear to dinner in most cities? Business Insider took a gander at it too!

oprah killing it | harpers bazaar

“According to Vedanta, there are only two symptoms of enlightenment, just two indications that a transformation is taking place within you toward a higher consciousness. The first symptom is that you stop worrying. Things don’t bother you anymore. You become light-hearted and full of joy. The second symptom is that you encounter more and more meaningful coincidences in your life, more and more synchronicities. And this accelerates to the point where you actually experience the miraculous.” ― Deepak Chopra

She just looks, regal, fabulous and content.

Like she recently gained a new completeness....and is ready for the next move.
